At Unwind The Mind Therapy LLC, our core values are empathy, respect, and integrity. We believe that every individual deserves to be heard and understood in their unique experiences.
Welcome! I'm Sarah G., and I'm glad you're here. After five years in the Marine Corps, I developed a passion for trauma counseling. I hold a Master’s in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-I). I also have an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (ACCTS) certification. I'm committed to enhancing my therapy skills to support you better.
I’m excited to work with individual adult clients of all ages, using proven methods like Trauma-Informed Care/Interventions, EMDR, Somatic Body-Sensitization, and Brainspotting. My background in neurobiology and mindfulness inspires me to understand each individual truly. Together, we’ll build a supportive partnership based on collaboration and open communication, making our journey both meaningful and empowering!
Mindfulness provides valuable guidance for individuals seeking to enhance their awareness, acquire mindfulness techniques, alleviate stress and anxiety, and improve overall well-being.
Trauma-informed care (TIC) shifts the focus from "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" and "What strengths do you possess?" This approach recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and aims to identify its signs and symptoms. By integrating trauma-informed knowledge into the therapeutic approach, TIC seeks to prevent retraumatization and promote healing, safety, and empowerment for all individuals, regardless of their trauma history.
EMDR, , is a psychotherapy technique aimed at reducing distress from traumatic experiences. The method involves bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) as the individual focuses on a troubling memory or thought.
Brainspotting relies on the deep connection between the therapist and the client, locating a bodily signal and alleviating it by calming the amygdala. It involves not only the activation of the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) but also the restoration of balance within the body.
Somatic therapy incorporates awareness of the body, breath exercises, and movement routines to enhance understanding of physical sensations and let go of trapped emotions. This form of treatment is commonly employed to address issues like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
Neurobiological therapy comprises interventions that incorporate principles derived from neuroscience, including brain plasticity and the regulation of the nervous system, into therapeutic practices designed to facilitate healing and foster personal growth.
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for therapy is a document required by the No Surprises Act that provides uninsured or self-pay clients with a clear estimate of their expected healthcare costs for planned services.
